As Michael pointed out, technology can only help us so much. During Season 4, he told us, "Business to business. The old-fashioned way. No Blackberries. No websites. I would like to see a website deliver baskets of food to people."
Several years after we first heard those words of wisdom, ABC World News Tonight just ran a story about a family whose GPS led it 800 miles astray into the desert, with no food and no cell phone service for three days:
Eight hundred miles? That's like a sixth of the country, right?
I wonder if the wife screamed at the husband for his mistake, only to have him get defensive and say "So we backtracked a tad" or "Pardon me, Ms. Perfect!"
Apparently, Americans aren't the only ones with worse senses of direction than T.J. Turner. Just a couple days ago, a bunch of Belgians traveled 800 miles in the wrong direction in France as the result of another GPS snafu. I guess it could have been worse. Driving into the desert or the South of France is still better than driving into a FUCKING LAKE.
